An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to support the Managing Director and Finance Director for a growing SME. The business is going through exciting times and is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to manage the finance function and assist in delivering the strategy to enable the business to achieve its full potential. 
 
You will be working for a top leading manufacturer that provides over 300 specialist products and is an expert in their field. They manufacture for a diverse range of companies within warehousing, food retail, and distribution centers and have been established for 30+ years based in Kings Norton, Birmingham.     
 
This is a fantastic opportunity if you are seeking a 4-day working week, working 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.  Benefits include 31 days holiday including Bank Holidays, holidays rise with service and free car parking. 
 
Working as the Finance Manager, your duties will include:
  • Being responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and management of the finance function
  • Ensuring that the day-to-day finance procedures are operating efficiently so that the monthly management accounts are prepared in a timely and accurate manner
  • Taking ownership and completion of the monthly management accounts pack to include Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet and detailed analysis with full reconciliations
  • Providing Sales and Margin analysis, dashboard reporting and KPI reporting
  • Dealing with the day-to-day cash flow management
  • Providing analysis for the manufacturing process: labour, materials and overhead cost and Developing systems to record variance analysis and review of cost allocation assumptions and rates
  • Working in the heart of the business you will be working in an operational environment with stakeholders from non-finance personnel to directors
  • Being the point of contact with the tax authorities for VAT and Intrastat returns
  • Challenging the norm and ensuring high-quality financial controls are in place and standardising procedures across the business
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns
  • Liaising with third-party suppliers and the bank on day-to-day issues and occasionally being involved in resolving issues with Customers and External Suppliers.
  • Supporting the finance department and sales administration department with additional duties
As the Finance Manager, you will have:
  • Previous experience in working within an SME environment in a hands-on finance role
  • A certified qualification, either within AAT, CIMA or ACCA
  • Worked as a number one or number two in a manufacturing or engineering environment and understands the disciplines of costing and stock
  • Strong operational exposure in working within the manufacturing sector
  • Good financial and analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting software and especially Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Cash Management experience in a multi-currency export business
  • Strong drive to ensure there is continuous improvement and getting things done
  • A demonstrable record of achievement in the implementation and maintenance of finance controls
  • Able to communicate with all levels of the business, and a team player, with leadership qualities and the capability to take ownership of new projects
  • You may have experience working as one of the following: Finance Controller, Head of Accounts, Finance Manager, Finance Director, Assistant Accountant, Accountant, Bookkeeper or any other similar position
Your salary will be circa £56,000 per annum (full time equivalent), the hourly pay rate is circa £28 per hour, depending on experience.
